the last library day

Home » General » the last library day

One more time before the summer is over,
We will read hundreds of pages from cover to cover.

Before books are assigned and seem like a chore,
We will choose as we like and borrow fifty or more.

We will enjoy old friends like George, Skippi, and Nancy,
And hope to meet new friends that tickle our fancy.

We will laugh at Mr. Putter, read about a Chester the cat,
Practice poems and love bunnies named Rabbit and Pat.

The days are getting shorter as autumn draws near,
So we’ll read about pumpkins and first-day-of-school fear.

Saying goodbye to summer, its freedom and fun,
Is less sad when we think of all that’s to come.
