our shadows

Home » General » our shadows

I look in their faces as they jump and yell and run,
When a shadow of the past passes quietly.
All full of today and who they have become,
My love for early years tumbles through me.

The tiny ones I carried so deep within the womb,
Whose hearts I first loved before faces I knew.
They heard heartbeat hymns that carried them soon,
Into loving arms and a world bright with truth.

Gazing into his eyes so loving, deep and blue,
Once more a shadow flashes before.
I am she whom he loves, to my heart he is true,
Humble love born by One who loves us more.

My friend ever faithful when days were young,
Six years my heart knew love before my mind.
In God alone our hearts sought to find the right song,
Faith triumphs with holiness learned in time.

Our family of shadows is full of more than yesterday,
Eternal joy gives our hearts reason to sing.
While these souls know love apportioned for today,
Forever love awaits our happy homecoming.

Kiss me today and hold me a moment too long,
Because here and now will not forever last.
When I gaze into the dimness of the everlasting song,
I see our road securely set on His golden past.
