flood redemption

Home » General » flood redemption

I felt I should write one more post about our house flood that happened in July. You can read the other posts about it here and here.

For weeks and weeks our little home was in upheaval. Most of our projects included multiple “one step forward, two steps back” situations. We were sleeping in the playroom. Many nights I found Legos in my bed. That room happens to be the hottest in the house, and summer’s heat was not our friend.

But no longer. We are mostly finished with all the remodeling.

We still have a few little things to left, like replacing windows sills, carpeting the stairs, and setting up the sitting area. But, we are sleeping in our own bed, in our own room, and it is lovely. So lovely.

Here are the photos, of the damage:

the night we returned from Cali and discovered the “squish-squish”
rotten baseboards, nasty floors
the deteriorated wall full of insect and flood damage

Here are the in-process shots:

dear friends who helped us: we love you forever!
i love this man
The Lady is working on the rights to her new HGTV show, “Toddlers and Nail Guns”

Almost done:

new baseboards, painted concrete floors!
the new bed

And, at last, the finished sleeping area:

joy!!!
totally worth the effort

It turned out stylish, sunny, and peaceful- just like the our family. (Please read with intended sarcasm).

Honestly, though, we are so grateful. We are grateful for all the friends and neighbors who helped us. We are grateful for God’s provision. And we are extremely grateful it is done!

What a big loaf of burnt toast this summer brought us. The storm caused a flood, it struck our house with lightning, and burst the sprinkler pipe in the front yard. But somehow, at the end of it all, we ended up full of joy.

I love when God does that kind of stuff.

I hope God does the same for you if you’re in the middle of a mess.

Now I think I’ll go take a nap in my new room.
