top ten motherhood quotes

Happy Tuesday Top Ten List time!

Mother’s Day is coming. (Hint, hint to Mr. Fantastic!) To encourage you about the importance of being a mom, remind you how much you owe to your mom, or just stoke the fire of gratitude that you had a mama, here are some motherhood quotes.

(For the record, I have written this post three times! Hopefully, the fourth time will be the last. The new blogger interface is not my friend yet. I feel your pity. Thank you.)

10. “I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.” ~Abraham Lincoln

9. “Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” ~Elizabeth Stone

8. He is a poor son whose sonship does not make him desire to serve all men’s mothers. ~Harry Emerson Fosdick

7. An ounce of mother is worth a pound of clergy. ~Spanish Proverb

6. Any mother could perform the jobs of several air traffic controllers with ease. ~Lisa Alther

5. Her dignity consists in being unknown to the world; her glory is in the esteem of her husband; her pleasures in the happiness of her family.-Jean Rousseau

4. I think my life began with waking up and loving my mother’s. -George Eliot

3. Every mother is like Moses. She does not enter the promised land. She prepares a world she will not see.-Pope Paul VI

2. Anyone who doesn’t miss the past never had a mother.-Gregory Nunn

1. There is no way to be a perfect mother, and a million ways to be a good one. -Jill Churchill

Being a mom is the the most wonderful horrible thing that ever happened to me. Wonderful because I love so them beautifully and deeply. Horrible because it is a gut-wrenching love. It is good to remember that the sacrifice is worth the effort, and that although the moments feel small they are where greatness is grown.

I hope you enjoy your kiddos today!
