Do you ever read the bible and think that surely the words were written for the very moment you are living right now? That is how I felt when I read this:
“I said to myself, ‘Relax and rest. God has showered you with blessings. Soul, you’ve been rescued from death; Eye, you’ve been rescued from tears; And you, Foot, were kept from stumbling.'”
-Psalm 116:7-8 (The Message)
“Work is a blessing. God has so arranged the world that work is necessary, and He gives us hands and strength to do it. The enjoyment of leisure would be nothing if we had only leisure. It is the joy of work well done that enables us to enjoy rest, just as it is the experiences of hunger and thirst that make food and drink such pleasures.”
― Elisabeth Elliot, Discipline: The Glad Surrender
May we find our work challenging, our rest sweet, and may God’s hand guide us to Himself in both. Ah, how blessed we are when life is full of His labor and His love!
